The 2018-2019 Wellness
Program will have its first meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at
1:30 PM. There will be a $5 monthly charge. If
numbers do not warrant the Program Expense, Council will
have to consider suspending it.
The Burin Peninsula Waste
Management Board has declared that all households will put
their garbage for collection in a green tub as of June 1,
2019. Low income families can take their receipt of
purchase to Council for a rebate of the full purchase price.
See Ruth at Town Hall.
Council, Town of Garnish is asking all households that have
untreated waste running in the Barrachois to stop doing so
by August 30, 2019. You may either hook your sewage
line into the Town Sewage system or install a septic tank
and disposal field. Pipes running into the Barrachois
will be plugged as of Sept. 1, 2019.
Looking for Volunteers - The
Garnish - Point Rosie Trail Association is calling for
volunteers to do some work on the bridge at Brown's Harbour.
We are delayed with the work because of high water around
the bridge site. As soon as waters levels
drop, we will be looking for support to get this job done.

advised: The bridge at Brown's Harbour on the Garnish
- Point Rosie Trail is closed until further notice because
it is unsafe. We will be looking for volunteers
over the next two weeks to help to do repairs.
Advisory - Council is aware that
the water from the Town Water Supply leaves something to be
desired. We are also aware that since Day 1, residents
in some parts of town have had a pressure problem.
Council is considering seeking funding to subsidize the
installation of whole - home filtration systems and pumps to
residents that are interested in improving the condition of
their water supply. Subsidy could be as much as 75 %.
We are now in the process of determining the cost per
household to discover how much we need to apply for.
We also need to know how many households would be interested
if the subsidy were to be made available. To sign up,
or to learn more, visit the Town Hall and speak to
Ruth or call 826.2330.
